Subaru Recalling Over 600K Cars and SUVs

Subaru Outback, Legacy, Tribeca and Forester are being recalled.

According to a report on CBS Philadelphia, "Subaru is recalling nearly 634,000 cars and SUVs in the U.S. because lights beneath the doors can overheat and catch fire."

Outback and Legacy cars from model years 2010 and 2011, Tribeca SUVs from 2006 through 2012 and Forester SUVs from model years 2009 to 2012 are included in the recall.

There are approximately 634,000 cars and SUVs included in the recall.

"The company says moisture can get into puddle lights beneath the doors and cause a short circuit that can melt plastic and cause fires," according to the report.

The company has stated that there have been no reported fires or crashes due to the problem, but Subaru has received complaints of smoke "coming from the lights on a small number of vehicles."

Letters will be mailed to all owners if their cars have these lights. The recall will begin in February.
