Communication with your tutor = completing the loop

How tutors and educators can use internet based technology to provide information to parents and students.

You've just sent your child to school or to the educational support professional or tutor... and now you' like to know.. how did the meeting go?  It's a fair question and information that is important to the overall educational process.

In the 'old days' post-meeting communications were limited to the telephone and 'snail mail'... but in the modern internet era these have been replaced with email, and more recently internet based platforms.

At mAke the grAde we use a system call Evernote. (www.evernote.com)  This is a web based (as well as PC / Mac based and mobile) platfom that enables the tutor or teacher to take extensive notes, scans documents, take pictures, record video and audio notes during a meeting with the student, all of which can be share with the parents after the meeting.  These notes are valuble on many levels: the post session feedback, long term records of meeting history, and also a direct resource for students. Evenote also dovetails wit Google Docs and other collaborative programs that we use with students at all levels.   MTG uses this system for all course work (including Math and Sciences and Study skills) as well as Test Prep for SAT and ACT exams.  There are other systems that educators can use (www.threering.com is a newer entry into the arena for example).

Even with this precise technology, the old school methods do have their place and the phone and direct communication remain important.

If you would like more information about tutoring, educational support or any of the feedback technology addressed in this post, please contact mAke the grAde at 215 540 8378 or sgreene@makethegrade.net

Of course, BoA could also promote better money habits if it stopped gouging people on hidden fees.
