B.J. Hoffman, CPA, a partner in Citrin Cooperman’s Philadelphia office, has been elected to the governing board of directors of Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, a nonprofit organization that serves underprivileged young people in Philadelphia.
Formerly known as Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education, the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education center is located in the northwest Philadelphia neighborhood of East Falls. The organization offers educational programs and positive opportunities to more than 4,500 children each year, especially those from under-resourced families.
The group uses high-quality tennis instruction, delivered by experienced instructors, to motivate young people to succeed in life. The programs teach rewarding lessons and help children build confidence, creating a framework of personal discipline that prepares young people to become active, responsible citizens.
“The opportunity to serve on the board of Legacy Youth Tennis and Education is incredibly rewarding,” said Hoffman. “The organization empowers children to recognize their strengths and build leadership skills, all while having fun. We are fortunate to have a group in the community dedicated to mentoring in this way.”
At Citrin Cooperman, Hoffman works with clients in a variety of industries, particularly professional service firms and the personnel staffing industry. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Hoffman, who lives in Upper Dublin Township, is a magna cum laude graduate of Lehigh University’s School of Business and Economics. He serves on the board of the Mid-Atlantic Staffing Association and is past president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania, and past Vice-Chair of JEVS Human Service.
