The same advocacy group that persuaded Chipotle, Chili’s and Sonic to prohibit firearms in their restaurants is asking Target to institute a similar no-gun policy.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America on Wednesday launched a national petition calling on Target to prohibit the open carry of guns in response to demonstrations at the retail giant organized by Open Carry Texas.

“Target, which boasts on its website that between 80% and 90% of its customers are women, has no restrictions on customers carrying guns in its stores,” the petition reads.

A Target spokeswoman told USA Today that the retailer follows all state and federal laws regarding firearms but did not respond when asked if the store would establish a no-gun policy.

Last month, Sonic and Chili’s announced policies banning guns from their dining rooms after recent open carry demonstrations, also organized by Open Carry Texas, caused controversy among customers.

Chipotle announced earlier in May, following similar demonstrations, that guns were not welcomed in their restaurants.

The last loon stabbed three people to death with a knife and ran a bunch down with his BMW before he shot the others... unfortunately you can't legislate sanity.

In Target, if some insane freak wants to come in with a gun and start shooting, he will, regardless of the law. All the law will do is prevent a gun carrying, law abiding citizen from taking said freak out. Law abiding citizens with guns prevent crimes all the time, you just don't hear it in the liberal media.

The 2nd ammendment has nothing to do with hunting or sporting. Please read more history and get your facts straight and understand the 2nd ammendment. I agree, those carrying open in stores are pushing the evelope, but they are not breaking the law. If you feel so strong about not having a "gun", post a sign in your yard and wear a shirt that says, "GUN Free". Also, many studies have been done that prove, states and cities with stronger gun restrictions, have more crime. People need to quit being so affraid of a "gun". It is a tool, it is the person using the tool that is the problem.

This is really a non story ... If you don't like a stores policy simple don't shop there ... and second no store or restaurant has any idea if your carrying concealed this notion of strapping a rifle on your back and wondering around seems silly to me but it is our legal right as well in pa ....With guns we are are citizens without guns we are subjects remember that
