EMCCC Offers Young Professionals' Happy Hour

Businesspersons age 21 to 40 are welcome to attend networking event in Fort Washington.

Are you a young businessman or woman in the Eastern Montgomery County area? It can sometimes be a challenge to meet and network with those in a similar area or age group.

As one of its many services, the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (EMCCC) will host a Young Professionals Happy Hour on Thursday, Feb. 7. Both members and non-members may preregister for the event.

For those that are already members, there is no cost to attend. Non-members must pay $10. During the happy hour event at MaGerks Pub and Grill in Fort Washington, there will be free appetizers, drink specials and door prizes.

The chamber also encourages networking at its many scheduled events. Many members say the meet-ups assist them greatly in making good working connections.

"In my experience, Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce is one of the best chambers to be a part of in the Philadelphia area," said Lisa Peskin, a member of the EMCCC and employee of the Business Development University. "The events are top-notch and always have a wonderful turnout."

The University, located in Ambler, should know. The school is a "sales training and coaching firm that offers a comprehensive approach to business development through creating customized solutions for business owners, entrepreneurs, sales managers, sales teams and personal producers," said its website.

Kent Keith of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Blue Bell agreed.

"Being new to the community and knowing literally NO ONE, I needed a way to meet people in the area and introduce myself to the business community," said Keith. "The Chamber was a great vehicle for that. Over the past few years, some of my best clients are a direct result of connections I've made through the Chamber, and membership continues to be a profitable and enjoyable experience."

Whether you seek to join the chamber or just come out for one night of networking, guests can register for the limited-space event by calling Meredith Mohr at 215-887-5122 or e-mail info@emccc.org.

There are 34 spaces available for the event, scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at MaGerks. MaGerks Pub and Grill is located at 528 S. Bethlehem Pike, Fort Washington. Those attending the Young Professionals Happy Hour must between the ages of 21 and 40.
