Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

There are many reasons why you should start you day off with a fantastic breakfast!

1. Your internal furnace cannot start in the morning until you have put something into your body.  Therefore you cannot start to burn calories until you “add logs to your fire!” Our bodies cannot run on empty.  When you skip breakfast you are starving by lunch time.  Breakfast skippers tend to eat more food than usual at the next meal or nibble on high-calorie snacks to stave off hunger. Can you make a good decision when you are famished?  How many people eat a really healthy lunch? When our bodies do not have proper nutrition they do not function to their fullest. We will not feel good if we do not eat breakfast!

2. Breakfast gives our bodies nutrition and substance. Food is energy! If we do not eat in the morning our bodies will not be able to produce the energy we need for the day. Breakfast is the meal after dinner, your first food after sleeping 8-10 hours! Our bodies need to be nourished in the morning, they’ve gone without food for hours.

3. People who do not eat breakfast often have a hard time concentrating, have difficulty learning and cannot focus well.   Your stomach is growling

4. Did you know that hunger can cause mood swings and irritability. If you are running on empty then your body is lacking proper nutrients to help your brain function!  This affects your whole system. People who DO eat breakfast tend to be much less irritable than those who do not.

5. Some people skip breakfast in an effort to shed a few pounds, but the practice is more likely to cause weight gain than weight loss. Skipping breakfast is strongly linked to the development of obesity. Studies show that overweight and obese children, adolescents, and adults are less likely to break the fast each morning than their thinner counterparts.

6. Eating breakfast increases the metabolic – or calorie-burning – rate. Consequently, you have more energy and weight control is easier.
