Sandy Run Middle School Sees Upgrades Over the Summer

The main gym's floor has been refurbished, a new TV production studio, and a new cart of laptop computers and wireless Internet were all installed over the summer at Sandy Run Middle School.

Sandy Run Middle School received a few upgrades over the summer, thanks to the generosity of local benefactors.

Prinicpal Denise Falconi told Patch the main gym floor was completely refurbished and a television production studio has been installed.

The gym floor, which was last refinished in the 1960s, was taken down to the original oak boards and then embossed with the Upper Dublin Cardinals insignia at center court. The work on the gym floor was funded by Upper Dublin Junior Athletic Association (UDJAA).

The television studio, which will be run as a club at the middle school, was possible by the financial support of a grant from the Greenfield Grant. The studio will be used for morning announcements and the school is exploring the possibilities of a "flipped classroom," according to Falconi.

The Sandy Run Middle School also received a cart of laptop computers and the funding for the new wireless initiative from the PTO. The wireless system was installed over the summer.
