Two on Missing Jet Are Employees of Pa. Companies

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared Saturday.

Two of the people on the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 were employees of Pennsylvania companies.

All 239 people aboard the flight and the plane itself have seemingly disappeared into thin air. An oil slick originally thought to be a crash site was found not to be. A piece of metal thought to be part of the plane was found to be sea trash.

The plane took off from Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, bound for Beijing. It never arrived.

Aboard the plane were Chng Mei Lei and Muktesh Mukherjee, both of whom work for Pennsylvania companies, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Chng, 33, is an engineer for Washington County-based Flexsys America LP. She has worked for the company since 2005, it said.

Mukherjee, 42, is a Canadian citizen who works for XCoal Energy and Resources, a coal company in Latrobe, The New York Times reported. Mukherjee was based in Beijing, XCoal told The Times, and his wife also was aboard the plane.

It makes me wonder whether the EPIRB's on commercial aircraft are ever inspected and if they are, why they aren't redesigned to be more effective in situations such as this? Regardless of the terrain we are dealing with(ocean or mountain), if you are searching an area with ships and planes and it is a radio signal coming from an emergency transmitter, a rescue vessel(ship or plane) should have the capability of picking up the signal. Even satellites should be picking it up!

Assuming that the signal is still transmitting. Way too many odd details with this story. Pilot suicide and terrorism seems to be the two leading explanations. There are also no details as to whether or not the plane was tampered with prior to takeoff.

I have been keeping up with this article and I was under the impression that the ocean area where this plane would have gone down is not as deep as other areas where plane crashes have been detected. I find it odd that this plane is without a trace. I think some sort of sabbotage has happened. I hope by some miracle that this plane is somewhere and everyone is ok- just odd that no trace at all whatsoever. Usually, there is something. With today's technology- planes don't just disappear without a trace.
