Upper Dublin Patch Receives New Editor Today
Leann Pettit to take over the reins.
Well, that's about as straight as one can write the headline. After 15 full months of working as editor for Upper Dublin Patch, I'm traveling a town over to become editor for Plymouth-Whitemarsh Patch, which also covers Conshohocken, starting today.
But I think the bigger news for the readers of Upper Dublin Patch is that they'll have the pleasure of reading a publication put together by Leann Pettit, of Ambler Patch fame. Many of you probably recognize her name, as plenty of Leann's work has already appeared on Upper Dublin Patch, and I can't be more confident that our readers will be impressed by both her hard work ethic and nose for news over the coming months.
The moves will make Patch editorially stronger for all of the sites involved, and also at a regional level. An opening appeared at Plymouth-Whitemarsh Patch after previous editor Nathan Adams was promoted to a regional editor role, and for a number of reasons it was I who was challenged to take his place. The moves also enabled us to hire a new local reporter who is going to be digging up great stories that you'll be seeing before too long.
While I'm excited about the opportunity to cover our neighbors to the southwest, I am certainly going to miss covering Upper Dublin on a daily basis. In just 15 months I went from being a rookie reporter who was often mistaken for a UDHS student cutting class to, well, something a little better.
I met a lot of great people along the way, and can't thank all of them, along with our great and active readership, enough. I suppose editing a website is kind of like being a conductor: without a bunch of great musicians and an engaged audience, it's just a guy flapping his arms around in the middle of an empty room. Thank you for not making me that guy.
I'll be just around the corner and you'll still see my byline, likely on a weekly basis. Always feel free to e-mail me at Kyle@Patch.com, and thank you for continuing to read Upper Dublin Patch.
