UDPD Reports: $4,000 of Laptops Stolen from Office Park, Vehicle Break-ins at LA Fitness

Vehicle break-ins also occurred on Bethlehem Pike.

 

All information is according to official police reports filed at the Upper Dublin Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Thefts from office park:

  • At approximately 8:05 p.m. on January 11, Upper Dublin police responded to the Gate 1 Travel Agency in the Fort Washington Office Park for the report of a theft. Upon arrival, the company’s information technology manager told police that a number of Dell Vostro laptops had been stolen from the server room. The manager estimated the value of the stolen property at approximately $4,504.
  • At approximately 8:53 a.m. on January 12, Upper Dublin police were dispatched to the 400 block of Maryland Drive in the Fort Washington Office Park for the report of a stolen laptop.  Upon speaking with a  business employee, the victim informed the officer that somebody had entered her office suite between 4:20 p.m. on January 11 and 8:00 a.m. on January 12 and stole a Lenovo laptop, Dell laptop, Toshiba laptop, and an Epson projector.

Vehicle break-ins at LA Fitness:

  • At approximately 10:51 p.m. on January 10, Upper Dublin police were dispatched to the LA Fitness in Fort Washington for the report of a break-in to a vehicle. Upon arrival, the owner of a 2011 Toyota Scion coupe told officers that his passenger side window had been smashed out and that his wallet had been taken.
  • At approximately 9:08 p.m. on January 12, an Upper Dublin police officer was dispatched to the Fort Washington LA Fitness for the report of a vehicle break-in.  Upon arrival, the owner of a 2004 Ford Escape told officers that someone had stolen is wallet from his vehicle.

Vehicle break-ins on Bethlehem Pike:

  • At approximately 8:00 a.m. on January 9, Upper Dublin police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Bethlehem Pike for the report of a theft from vehicle. Upon arrival, a homeowner at that location told police that an unknown person had gone through the glove boxes of her and her spouse’s vehicles. A portable Garmin GPS had been stolen. According to the victim, the thefts occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. the night before and that morning.
  • At approximately 11:21 a.m. on January 9, police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Bethlehem Pike for the report of  theft from vehicle. Upon arrival, the homeowner told police that he had checked on his vehicle at 1:30 a.m. the night before and found it untouched, but noticed that his neighbor’s motion sensing flood light turned on at about 3:30 a.m.  The victim later discovered that a 30-gigabyte iPod had been stolen from his vehicle.

Stolen vehicle found: At approximately 2:10 p.m. on January 8, Upper Dublin police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Bridlepath Lane, Dresher, for the report of a found stolen vehicle. According to police reports, the 2001 silver Mazda MPV minivan had been parked on the roadway, facing west, for approximately two weeks. A trace of the vehicle’s plates showed that it had been stolen from Montgomery Township.

Lost property: At approximately 3:02 p.m. on January 9, an Upper Dublin resident reported to police that he lost his wallet, and believes he left it on the counter of an Oreland market. The lost wallet contained an undetermined amount of currency and several cards, which were closed.

Hit and run: At approximately 1:01 a.m. on January 9, an Upper Dublin police officer on patrol in Fort Washington observed a damaged speed limit sign near the Wawa store on Bethlehem Pike. According to the report, the sign was leaning into the southbound lane of the roadway, and the officer also noticed tire tracks near the sign and “very minor” damage to a nearby utility pole.

Public drunkenness: At approximately 11:48 p.m. on January 10, Upper Dublin police were dispatched to the 400 block of Church Street, Ambler, for the report of a “female yelling,” according to police reports. Upon walking around the rear of the property, police found Natalie Marella, 25, of the 200 block of Forrest Avenue, Ambler, who was “uncooperative and combative,” the report says. Upon speaking with Marella, officers observed that she was stumbling while walking, had slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath, according to the report. Marella was then transported to UDPD and cited for public drunkenness.

Hit and run accident: At approximately 8:16 p.m. on January 11, Upper Dublin police were dispatched to the intersection of Susquehanna Road and Candlebrook Drive for the report of a hit and run. Upon arrival, the driver of a 2001 Mazda MPV told police that while waiting to turn right onto Susquehanna, a dark blue or black full size sedan travelling west on Susquehanna struck the driver side of his vehicle and then fled north. The Mazda sustained moderate damage and the driver was uninjured.
