Girl Helivaced After Hit by Car on Norristown Road
A 12-year-old was hit by a car this afternoon as she rode her bike, police said.
A young girl is in a Philadelphia hospital after she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle on Norristown Road Thursday afternoon, police report.
Multiple ambulances responded to aid the 12-year-old female, who was thrown from her bike, said Corporal Shea Creamer of the Upper Dublin Township Police Department.
After evaluating her condition, a medical helicopter was called to transport the teen to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment, said Creamer.

Police report the girl was conscious as EMTs packaged her for the flight.
Within 25 minutes of the crash, the girl was on the medical chopper and en route to Children’s Hospital.

The teen and two friends were riding their bikes on Norristown Road in front of the Genuardi’s when police say the girl entered the traffic lane and was struck. Investigators believe the girl was attempting to cross Norristown Road when she was struck.
The accident happened around 4 p.m., just as afternoon traffic was starting to fill the roads, an unnamed Upper Dublin official said.
The two friends that were riding with the girl at the time of the accident escaped injury.
When asked about citations or charges issued to the driver, Creamer said that he could not provide more details because township police are still investigating the incident.
Traffic on the road was blocked by fire police for a short time as authorities cleared the accident scene.
Early reports wrongly indicated the incident occurred in Horsham, which is about 100 yards away from where the girl was struck.
