Pharmacies Proposed For Dresher

One of the two proposed sites backs up to the existing Dreshertown Plaza Shopping Center.

Dresher residents could soon be serviced by two new pharmacies if a pair of property developers' plans come to fruition.

Montgomery Media reports that the Brandolini Companies, owner of the Dreshertown Plaza Shopping Center, wants to build a Rite-Aid pharmacy with a drive-thru lane on a four-acre parcel on Dreshertown Road. The parcel backs up to the existing Dreshertown Plaza complex.

Brandolini is willing to forego 24-hour operation for the proposed pharmacy in response to community concerns, the company's attorney told the Upper Dublin Planning Commission last month.

A few hundred feet down the road, BET Investments, owner of a 9.54 acre site between Susquehanna Road and N. Limekiln Pike, wants to build a complex that would include a hotel, office building, and restaurant, in addition to a pharmacy.

Both projects would be contingent upon zoning changes and other zoning board approvals. A public hearing on the Brandolini project is scheduled for December 11.

I guess that they would close / move the existing RiteAid in the strip mall. I guess the 24 hour aspect is a positive... (silver lining)

I don't know if the above comment by Dresher Mom is her honest feeling or if it was meant as sarcasm, however I would encourage everyone interested in any land use issue in the township to make their voices heard at our community meetings. Go to the UD website to see when they are scheduled. The members of the Board and the Committee are fellow neighbors. Your opinions matter - voice them!

Yes, the members of the Board and the Committee are fellow neighbors - but no, your opinions do not matter, and voicing them rarely, if ever, makes an impact. Don't waste your time.

I agree w/ Dorothy Parker, it is amazing how townships operate and their hidden planning agendas which all in Montco are zeroing in on "density" planning. There are Rite Aids and CVS awash in our area. I guess it is because of the aging boomers. RiteAid please, why do you all have to look alike and have such harsh exteriors? This wouldn't happen on Martha's Vineyard ya know!

The traffic is already overwhelming in that section of Dresher. These idiots on the Planning Commission are going to make sure they destroy the quality of life in our township. (While lining their own pockets from these developers??)

We're in a high opportunity area, so developers are "partners" to townships now.

I would agree that the last thing any one needs is a traffic light along that area of Limekiln Pike. I don't know if any of these plans would include this.

It was okay for the Fort Washington people to have the High School, Elementary School, the township building, library and the new firehouse close to each other and after many residents complained about the firehouse. The Dresher shopping center has been there for a long time, what is the big deal???
