Harry Adam Yutzler, Jr., 83, formerly of Maple Glen
For 40 years he was a public school instrumental music teacher having taught at Conshohocken High School, Upper Moreland School District, and Wissahickon School District.
Harry Adam Yutzler, Jr., 83, formerly of Maple Glen, died at Springhouse Estates on September 11, 2012. He was the son of the late Dr. Harry A. Yutzler and Martha L. Yutzler and loving husband of Joanne (Trupp) for 46 years.
He was a graduate of the William Penn Charter School, Class of 1947 and from Temple University with bachelors and masters degrees in music education. He served proudly in the U.S. Army with the 8th Army Honors Band in Seoul, Korea during the Korean conflict.
For 40 years he was a public school instrumental music teacher having taught at Conshohocken High School, Upper Moreland School District, and Wissahickon School District. He was the director of a trumpet quartet, The Harmony Trumpeters. Each July 4th for 50 years he put together a band of friends and former music students who performed in many local patriotic neighborhood parades and concerts. Harry performed with The Pittsburgh Symphony, The Deutsche Blaskapelle, and the Montgomery County Concert Band. He was a member and Deacon, for almost 50 years, of the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler.
Harry was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, St. Andrews Society and the Huguenot Society. He was past master of Fritz Lodge #308, Free and Accepted Masons and a member of Crescent Temple Shrine and the Lehigh Consistory.
Harry was a devoted husband, father, and “Pop-Pop” who loved spending time with his family, his music, and in showing great pride of his German heritage.
He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Heidi J. Yutzler-Overton (Kirk) and Gretchen M. Elfreth (Stephen) and four grandchildren, Joanna and Adam Overton and Mark and William Elfreth.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11am at The First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 S. Ridge Ave., Ambler, PA. Visitation with the family will be from 9-11am. Internment will be private.
