Dresher Post Office Will Close its Doors on Friday
The last day for the Dresher post office is Friday, the whole operation will move to Fort Washington.
After 50 years of serving the community, the Dresher post office will close its doors on Friday. According to a report in the Ambler Gazette, the owner of the building, Mike Sloane, said finances lead to the decision to close the location. Sloane is also the owner the Mercedes-Benz Fort Washington.
Sloane told the Gazette, "The postal service made the decision not to remain at the site when faced with either putting on a new roof for the building or having the rent increased to pay for needed improvement costs."
Residents with post office boxes, as well as employees and mail will be moved and routed through the Fort Washington post office.

There was a rumor some time ago that the Dresher PO and the erstwhile Maple Glen PO were going to sort of merge and open at a retail type space at the Jarrettown Hotel.

It seems to me, that despite the convenience for use in Dresher, this move, considering the economices of the Post Office, was long overdue. It will be a little more inconvenient or all of us, I liked running in and out, but was inevitable, sadly all things change, not always for the good.
